Happy New Year
So, 2018 has arrived at last, and before anything else we’d like to say … Happy New Year!
Past the point of reflection and looking back, it’s now time to look forward – but, to what exactly? Continuing on from the usual New Year trends (all those resolutions, that determination to better yourself or to try something new), it’s always nice to put plans and objectives into a larger context, a kind of annual narrative. It is for that exact reason that Fit4Change are launching, with this piece, a new blog series called ‘Another anniversary’.
‘Another anniversary’ will provide context over the course of the year. The aim is essentially to inform our users of the kinds of events and commemorations coming up, to give you ideas and potentially new challenges, and also a few details about the significance of it. When taking part in events that commemorate an anniversary, we feel that there is an additional sense of meaning to it, a more direct feeling of involvement. Therefore, with new features on the way (including a new campaigns feature, allowing group fundraising over a longer period of time), we thought it would be a fantastic idea to speak about the specific anniversaries that are coming up: 2018 is full of them! Naturally, these events will all be focused on through the frame of charity; a means of marking the occasion and in some cases continuing the spirit of it. This will provide Fit4Change users the means to establish their own narrative, to start a journey, and to hopefully make special new memories while fulfilling the optimism of New Year resolutions.
So, what kind of events are we talking about here? For the most part, extremely significant historic and cultural events: 2018 really is full of them! Whether they be landmark moments in history that close some of the darkest chapters of mankind; such as the 100-year anniversary of the armistice ending the First World War, or the hard fought for foundations of greater equality; such as the gradual implementation of votes for women in the UK.
This series will also be accompanied by a more general blog series focusing on sporting events such as marathons and races, as well as charity fitness events that are set for the coming year. So, stay tuned for both, and hopefully they will inspire you to try something new.
Whether you run, walk, or cycle, fundraise for free with Fit4Change.
